Thanks for checking out my site!

I guess it's only fair that I share a little bit about me...I'm a small-town Iowa guy who's finally established his roots here in Austin.  I've got to say, it has been amazing journey and what's even more exciting, I've been fortunate enough to participate in the journeys of many others.  As an empowerment therapist, I focus a great deal of my work in exploring the concept of self-power as well as supporting individuals in re-claiming their power.  With this, we combat issues of:  shame, guilt, trauma, disappointment, and heartache. Don't get me wrong, therapy is not all about the negative; it's an opportunity for us to celebrate who we are and all of the gifts that make us unique.

Over the last two years, I have refined and enhanced my skills as a therapist working with individuals living with HIV and struggling with substance use.  In this experience, I have worked primarily with men who self-identify as gay or queer as well as individuals who identify as transgender.  Prior to this, I served as the counselor for a private high school in which I supported students as they prepared for their next milestone:  adulthood, college, careers, etc.  I have also worked with adolescent females living in a residential treatment facility where I facilitated individual and group connection thus supporting the individuals as they traversed through their experienced traumas and challenges.

So what do I do?

I help individuals, couples, families, and groups in navigating through:

  • Shame

  • Guilt

  • Stigma

  • Relationship challenges

  • Sex/intimacy

  • Polyamory

  • Gender/sexual identity – “Who am I?  Where do I fit?”

  • Life transitions/events – break-ups, coming out, loss of partner/loved one, etc.

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Impacts of substance use

I utilize my professional and personal experiences in walking alongside individuals as they navigate their journey.  I embrace my identity as a person-centered therapist, fiercely driven to support individuals in rediscovering their love for themselves.  Contact me so that we can begin navigating through your journey together.
